I had previously written about the philosophical idea that "there is treasure everywhere" -it comes from the Calvin and Hobbes book of the same title. Things get so frantic and hectic in life that it's easy to miss the treasures that are only a short distance away.
The American Helicopter Museum in West Goshen Township Pennsylvania sits on the edge of the Brandywine airport. They have 35 about historic helicopters on display and several more in restoration. I heard about the Museum through one of the volunteers -Steve. Steve works a auto mechanic and on every Tuesday, when the museum is closed to the public, he helps restore and maintain the helicopters. It was fun spending the afternoon with the motor heads, gear geeks and retired Boeing engineers who are there almost every week.
The American Helicopter Museum is not a large museum but it is one of the few in the world dedicated solely to rotor wing aircraft. I purposely only posted a few pictures because I want to leave plenty for the first time visitor to discover.
Only a few miles to the west is West Chester PA. A college town with shopping, entertainment and a wide range of restaurants from eclectically casual to fine dining. So after seeing the museum you can round out your day in town
As a special treat the museum has the only civilian V-22 Osprey on public display. They look a lot different up close than they do on TV. The rotors are huge, 38 feet (12 m) in diameter.
I could go though some of the activities and events at the museum but it's probably better to contact them yourself.
